When the revived Iron Chef ended its brief run, we were told to expect special episodes from time to time. This is the first of those specials.<\/p>\n

American food isn’t just hamburgers and hot dogs. American chefs are becoming more of a force on the world stage. In April 2013, there were 6 American restaurants in the World Best Restaurant 50.<\/p>\n

The three American challengers for this special are:
\n—Frank Ruta<\/a>, owner\/chef of Palena<\/a> in Washington, DC.
\n–Tony Maws, owner\/chef of Craigie on Main<\/a> in Boston. (Follow him on Twitter<\/a>)
\n–Eric Ziebold, head chef of CityZen<\/a>\u00a0at the Mandarin Oriental\u00a0in Washington, DC. \u00a0(Follow him on Twitter<\/a>)<\/p>\n

The theme will be Beef for the all four quarters of the battle. The first three quarters will feature one-on-one matchups between the chefs: (Ruta vs. Suga, Maws vs. Kurogi, Ziebold vs. Wakiya). The fourth quarter will be a team match featuring all six chefs. Who will come out on top?<\/p>\n
