ascension music on 2001-2008 Food Network airings of <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Iron Chef<\/span><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>As of this writing, I cannot identify the source of this cue, which has been given the nickname \u201cYomigaeru\u201d (Japanese for \u201cCome to Life\u201d) here on the Iron Chef Filehouse.<\/p>\n<p>However, due to the so-called \u201cSecret Santa\u201d who made the 1996 \u201cBeijing Decisive Battle\u201d (ICC episode number 441) available to us here on the ICF, we now know that \u201cYomigaeru\u201d was, in fact, used on the original Japanese version of <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Iron Chef<\/span><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>During the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Decisive Battle (see the Part 1 download), \u201cYomigaeru\u201d can be heard at time code 16 minutes, 19 seconds into the video. \u201cYomigaeru\u201d plays until time code 16 minutes, 40 seconds into the video (at which time \u201cCharging Fort Wagner\u201d begins as normal).<\/p>\n<p>Here is an example of \u201cYomigaeru\u201d as used on the post-2001-to-2008 U.S.-dubbed version of <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Iron Chef<\/span><\/em> (taken from the Fois Gras Battle between Komei Nakamura [in his debut battle as an Iron Chef] and challenger Kiyoshi Suzuki [ICC episode number 410]), followed by its use in the \u201cBeijing Decisive Battle&#8230;\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>U.S. \u201cYomigaeru\u201d<script src=\"http:\/\/www.ironcheffans.info\/BKS\/Music\/audio-player.js\"><\/script> <object id=\"USYomi\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"290\" height=\"24\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"FlashVars\" value=\"playerID=USYomi&amp;soundFile=http:\/\/www.ironcheffans.info\/BKS\/Music\/Cues-Part4\/US_Yomigaeru.mp3\" \/><param name=\"quality\" value=\"high\" \/><param name=\"menu\" value=\"false\" \/><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.ironcheffans.info\/BKS\/Music\/player.swf\" \/><param name=\"flashvars\" value=\"playerID=MUL1&amp;soundFile=http:\/\/ironcheffans.info\/BKS\/Music\/Cues-Part4\/US_Yomigaeru.mp3\" \/><embed id=\"USYomi\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"290\" height=\"24\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ironcheffans.info\/BKS\/Music\/player.swf\" wmode=\"transparent\" menu=\"false\" quality=\"high\" flashvars=\"playerID=MUL1&amp;soundFile=http:\/\/ironcheffans.info\/BKS\/Music\/Cues-Part4\/US_Yomigaeru.mp3\"><\/embed><\/object><\/li>\n<li>B.D.B. \u201cYomigaeru\u201d<script src=\"http:\/\/www.ironcheffans.info\/BKS\/Music\/audio-player.js\"><\/script> <object id=\"STG1\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"290\" height=\"24\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"FlashVars\" value=\"playerID=STG1&amp;soundFile=http:\/\/www.ironcheffans.info\/BKS\/Music\/Excerpts\/STG_Overture(Excerpt-WC97).mp3\" \/><param name=\"quality\" value=\"high\" \/><param name=\"menu\" value=\"false\" \/><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.ironcheffans.info\/BKS\/Music\/player.swf\" \/><param name=\"flashvars\" value=\"playerID=MUL1&amp;soundFile=http:\/\/ironcheffans.info\/BKS\/Music\/Cues-Part4\/BDB_Yomigaeru.mp3\" \/><embed id=\"STG1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"290\" height=\"24\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ironcheffans.info\/BKS\/Music\/player.swf\" wmode=\"transparent\" menu=\"false\" quality=\"high\" flashvars=\"playerID=MUL1&amp;soundFile=http:\/\/ironcheffans.info\/BKS\/Music\/Cues-Part4\/BDB_Yomigaeru.mp3\"><\/embed><\/object><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Of the cues I have yet to describe so far, the one heard most often is the Chairman&#8217;s entrance fanfare, heard on special occasions, such as the entrance of the New Chairman, Masahiro Motoki, in the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2002 Japan Cup<\/span><\/em> special (ICC episode number 1001).<\/p>\n<p>This fanfare is the theme to the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Nobunaga&#8217;s Ambition<\/span><\/em> series of historical simulation video games. Originally, this cue was excerpted from the composition \u201cFanfare for the Common Man,\u201d composed in 1942 by\u00a0 Aaron Copland (1900-1990).  The \u201cFanfare for the Common Man\u201d excerpt was subsequently replaced by an excerpt from the cue \u201c335\u201d from the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Backdraft<\/span><\/em> soundtrack (exact time code unknown).  In addition to the uses described in its entry in the First Confront, \u201cShow Me Your Firetruck\u201d (from the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Backdraft<\/span><\/em> soundtrack) provided a third cue.  At the end of the challenger&#8217;s profile at the beginning of each episode (before the opening sequence), the opening of \u201cShow Me Your Firetruck\u201d\u00a0 (9SMYF time code-0:00 to 0:09) plays as the Chairman implores today&#8217;s challenger(s) to do his\/her\/their best in the Kitchen Stadium.  (As an example of this encouragement, say this series of articles is a battle I&#8217;m fighting. As a slow-motion shot of me typing at my laptop&#8217;s keyboard plays, the Chairman might say&#8230; \u201cNow, Raymer! These two cues were \u201cYip Man&#8217;s Kwoon\u201d (2YMK time code 1:08 to 2:27, at which point the track ends) and \u201cLee Hoi Chuen&#8217;s Love\u201d (3LHCL time code 0:00 to 0:32). Both of these cues played as progress on the All-Chinese Team&#8217;s dishes was described.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yip Man&#8217;s Kwoon 2000<sup>th<\/sup> Plate excerpt<object id=\"YMKE\" that the name of the track from the 1998 film <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Lost in Space<\/span><\/em> used in Dominique Bouchet&#8217;s introductory film in the \u201c<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Millennium Cup 2000<\/span><\/em>\u201d special (\u201cThru the Planet\u201d-see the Second Confront) is only the name of the track as it appears on the original TVT Records soundtrack album.<\/p>\n<p>A separate score-only album released by Intrada (the TVT Records release mixes selected score tracks with lyrical songs) contains this track, but under the title \u201cLost In Space.\u201d The time code data remains the same (20LIS-I time code 0:40-1:07).<\/p>\n<p>At this time, I cannot think of any further cues that I have not touched upon. So, at this time, I must close out the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Music of <\/span><\/em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Iron Chef Japan<\/span> series. Take care.
