Tonight, the Iron Chef Collection served its 100,000th file.
A big thank you goes out to everyone who have enjoyed any of the clips and episodes on the site. Keep it up.
I still have more ICC Exclusives to add in the coming months. In fact, there is an episode uploading right now. It should be available to watch and download later tonight. (And I’m hoping to make another announcement soon about some possible episode acquisitions. Stay tuned.)

I know it has been a few weeks since I have put up anything new, but I promise it is coming soon. I’m wrapping up the second of two big projects at work in the next couple of days. I will then be able to get some new episodes posted and return to my somewhat regular posting schedule. Thanks for being patient.
(This might be a good time to bring up the fact that I will always welcome guest posters. Write something for the site. Send it to me, and I’ll put it up for all to see.)

The site has been down a lot this week. The hosting company says that they can’t duplicate the problem. (Of course, once I asked them about it, the problem seems to have stopped. Coincidence? Maybe.) If the problems do persist, I will look at other hosting alternatives to help prevent them from continuing. I plan to have a new TWICH post (and maybe a BKS post) later this week. Thank you for your patience and continued support.

Today is the one year anniversary of the launch of the Iron Chef Collection. Thank you to everyone who has visited, downloaded, commented, and contributed to the site. I know the updates have slowed down a lot since we reached the end of the Food Network episodes. I’ll do my best to get back on a regular posting schedule with the Japanese language episodes.
Here are what I consider to be the highlights from our first year:
- We completed the entire collection of episodes that aired on Food Network. (We’re the only place to see some of them on the internet.)
- We acquired 30 Japanese episodes that did not air on Food Network. (We’re still adding them. Be patient.)
- We acquired/shared several Japanese specials that did not air on Food Network. (Millennium Special, Japan Cup 2002, Indonesia Expedition, Morimoto Retrospective)
- We helped the families of two challengers get copies of the episodes featuring their family members. Michael Noble’s daughter wrote to us asking if we had a copy of her father’s episode. And according to Mark at nylon.net, “10 July 2008 – I finally have the Ostrich Episode (in Japanese, not dubbed). In 2008 I sent a copy of the episode to Gillian who had never seen it. Her children were amazed!”
- Over 50,000 videos watched/downloaded.
What you can expect in the months ahead:
- The continued addition of the Japanese language episodes from 1997.
- More BKS videos, commercials, Japanese TV shows
- The videos from the Iron Chef Sega Saturn video game.
Coming up on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week: 1997 Iron Chef World Cup.
I am really sorry about the sporadic posting of. . .well, anything over the last few weeks. I can’t seem to stay on any kind of regular schedule. I will have up some new videos before the weekend and I will have an ICC Exclusives post for Tuesday of next week. Again, I’m really sorry for not sticking with my previously planned posting schedule.
BTW, does anybody know an easy way to extract video from Sega Saturn discs? If so, contact me.

Female Voice: Ten battles remaining. Five battles. Three. Two. One.
Fukui: That’s it. The posting is done. The Food Network battles are ovah!
That’s right. This is the final Episodes of the Week with Food Network battles. With today’s additions, we now have the complete collection of episodes that aired on Food Network. We are the only place that you can watch every single episode of Iron Chef that aired on Food Network. (Not even FLN can say that.)
- Carrot (220) – Chen vs. Takahashi – The challenger finished right behind Chen at the World Championships of Chinese cooking in 1992. He trained under the great Zhou Tomitoku.
- Pineapple (420) – The challenger was the first Thai cuisine chef to enter Kitchen Stadium.
- Peach (629) – Sakai vs. Watabe – “Assistants? We don’t need no stinkin’ assistants.” This challenger is determined to work alone during this battle. Will Sakai do the same?
The following battles may be found by searching our Video Database: Carrot (
220), Pineapple (
420), Peach (
629)
New in the database this week: 220, 420, 629
The focus will now shift to more frequent additions to the ICC Exclusives as well as increased attention to our
Iron Chef Wiki. Now that we have the complete Food Network collection,
let us know what you would like to see in the months ahead.
