Just wanted to remind everyone that there is no new episode this week. There will be a two hour special next Friday with Iron Chef Hiroyuki Sakai and classic judge Asako Kishi. Look for it here next weekend.
I’ll do my best to post a few “new” subtitled episodes this weekend. And maybe the next installment in my vacation diary. (I know how much everyone looks forward to that. 🙂 )

The challenger is an Italian chef who didn’t start cooking seriously until the age of 28. He prefers traditional Italian food, the kind that ordinary Italians grew up eating. The theme is 5 types of Kinoko (mushroom).

Iron Chef Yomigaeru S1E3 – Kinoko – Iron Chef French vs. Mitsuaki Okamura – 11/9/12
Make sure you comment and send links with any translations or observations you have while watching this episode. I’ll be away from the site most of this weekend, but I will get the comments posted as soon as I’m able.
You can see the dishes HERE, but be careful not to scroll down too far if you don’t want to see the results yet.
This week’s battle is Italian vs French. The Iron Chef French boldly proclaims that French will not lose to a Japanese Italian chef. The theme ingredient is Kinoko (mushroom). After last week’s loss, will the Iron Chef be able to get Kitchen Stadium’s vanguards back on the right track?
Episode 3 Preview
We are a couple of weeks into the return of Iron Chef to Japanese TV, and the Iron Chef fan world seems pretty excited so far. People know to come here for the episode video on Friday afternoon/evening, but I’d like to help those of us with limited Japanese language ability to better understand what is going on during the episodes.
If you can help out by sharing what you understand during the episodes, I’d love to share it with everyone. If you have a personal page/blog where you write episode summaries, put a link in a comment on the main video thread. If you just want to write a comment with information, please do that instead. I’ll move the links/comments into the main thread for easy access, and perhaps compile the reports into a full episode summary when possible. I’d like the summary posts to be for the new Iron Chef episodes what the Iron Chef Reporter summaries (for those who remember them) were for the originals. Looking forward to seeing how things go this Friday.
Of course, I’m always open to suggestions for ways to share the Iron Chef love.

It has come to my attention that Fuji TV is airing the first six episodes from the very first season (1993) of Ryouri no Tetsujin on the channel Fuji One during the month of November. As most of you know, although there were only 10 episodes during the first season, only one of them has been seen outside of Japan. (Ishinabe vs Borie – Chicken) If there is any way someone with a connection in Japan can get these episodes recorded, it will be HUGE for the Iron Chef fan community around the world.
Original Iron Chef on Japanese TV
It’s time for the second episode of Iron Chef’s return to Japanese television. Today’s battle features a challenger from Iwate prefecture vs. the new Iron Chef Japanese. The theme ingredient is Akaza Ebi (Japanese Lobster). It’s good to see Michiba in Kitchen Stadium in the commentator and taster’s panels today.
Iron Chef Yomigaeru S1E2 – Akaza Ebi – Iron Chef Japanese vs. Katsuyasu Ito – 11/2/12
This episode is in Japanese with no subtitles.
UPDATE: I have added the two new episodes to the Full Episode List page
