Hello, Iron Chef Fans!
When I saw that @tuthead had asked for assistance to keep this website going, I was concerned! Like you, I’ve turned to this site and its many resources and experts for years to learn more about my favorite cooking series: Iron Chef Japan. I wanted to do something to help – I didn’t just want something that had been helpful for myself and many others to go to the Web’s archives without a fight. Earlier this year, I spoke with my family about what we could do to help, maybe even using our time and our resources, and we came to a decision… I reached out and let @tuthead know that I’d take on the challenge and serve as the new webmaster for this site.
Although we’ve figured that out, we have some technical hurdles coming up soon: making sure the website stays up is my FIRST priority and we’ll be working through the end of the year to make sure we are stable and ready to grow! For the next several months, the website should remain as it is now while we catalog and secure what we have. By the end of the year, I hope to share with you more information about how we will be updating the site to serve Iron Chef fans worldwide! Please feel free to reach out to me via the site if you have any concerns that I may be able to help with. I will work on those requests as I have the opportunity!
Lastly, I heard earlier this year, as I’m sure many of you have as well, of the passing of Iron Chef Kobe due to a tragic accident related to his work. We, his fans, continue to send our condolences and best wishes to his family and the extended Iron Chef communities across the world. His appearances on Iron Chef Japan were both passionate and focused and illustrated the tremendous talent he had for his cuisine, his craft, his art.
Thank you all, and I look forward to sharing more with you soon!

Hi Everybody.
I find it hard to believe this site is nearing the end of it’s 10th year. It officially launched in February of 2008.
As of today, the hosting is paid for another year (through Nov 2019) and the domain name is owned for another two (through Dec 2020).
As I said before, if anyone wants to take over maintenance/ownership of the site, send me a note. If you have questions about costs or how things are set up, I’d be happy to answer them.
This isn’t the end, though. There is still at least one more year to spread the Iron Chef love. Let’s make sure we enjoy it.

I may be way out of the loop, but when did Iron Chef Canada become a thing? I haven’t watched them yet, but I have two episodes of Iron Chef Canada in hand. Is there any interest in seeing them?
Also, does anyone have a copy of the recent US airings of Iron Chef Yomigaeru they’d be willing to share so I can post it here?

Iron Chef Canada – Season 1, Episode 1
Iron Chef Canada – Season 1, Episode 2
Edit: I’ve watched about 3 minutes of Iron Chef Canada, and I don’t think it’s going to be for me. It is very similar in style to Iron Chef America, which I didn’t watch either. I will still post if anybody wants to see it. (I’m completely aware of my original Iron Chef elitism when talk about the new versions. What can I say? I like what I like. And that’s Chairman Kaga on the stage, Fukui/Doc Hattori in the commentary box, and Iron Chefs rising up into Kitchen Stadium.)
It’s hard to believe this site launched in January of 2008. At the time, the site was a much needed repository for Iron Chef videos on the internet. And thanks to a few purchases from a collector in Japan and many generous donations of episodes from a collector in the US, we were able to see many battles most of us thought we would never see. And the revival of the show in 2012 led to rebroadcasts of the original first season episodes. What a treat to see the origins of Iron Chef. I enjoyed writing the old Episodes of the Week posts and meeting fans from all over the world.
Fast forward to 2018. You can find just about any episode you want on Youtube or Dailymotion or one of the other video sites. And there are other sources of information about the show that are maintained more frequently than this one. I hate to say it, but I don’t know that the site is needed anymore.
I will renew the hosting and domain name for one more year at the end of this upcoming November. So no matter what, the site will be online through November 2019. (Domain name expires Dec ’19) What happens after that? I don’t know. I’d hate to see the site disappear entirely, so I’d be more than willing to let someone else take over if there is anyone interested.
Let me know if anyone has any thoughts or wants the keys to the kitchen.

I got this comment from long-time friend of the site Ironnut77 the other day:
I just came across what appears to be a new site (at least I have never seen it before). It is a database for all of the original Iron Chef battles, with PICTURES and all kinds of other goodies!
Iron Chef Battle Database
The site looks very interesting. Give it a look when you have a chance.
To the owner of ICBDB, if you would like to link to any of the episodes or posts on this site, please feel free to do so. And thank you for adding a wonderful resource for the Iron Chef community.

The fine folks at Tofugu posted this story about one of Iron Chef Chen’s mabodofu restaurants.

And there is a note at the end of the story that they are working on a series of articles about other Iron Chef restaurants in the Tokyo area.
