When I saw this commercial today for the first time, I knew that I had to post it here right away. Today’s addition to Beyond Kitchen Stadium is a wonderful Japanese commercial for Nissan. (Of course, Nissan was one of the primary sponsors of Iron Chef in Japan.)
Where do I begin to describe this outstandingly strange commercial. It begins with Chairman Kaga thinking about how he has loved his Nissan Laurel for quite a long time. We then see a young 10 year old Kaga saying, “my car” while riding in the back seat and eating. (Apparently, his flamboyant style of dress began at an early age.) Kaga is then shown looking at a picture of himself when he was 20, hanging out with his friends, and still wearing an elaborate blue jacket. He drops off his friends, then gets slapped by Asako Kishi. (Huh?) The commercial ends with Chairman Kaga driving his Laurel away from the sizable mansion that presumably houses the Gourmet Academy and Kitchen Stadium as his “staff” looks on.
You simply have to see this commercial as there is no way that my description does it justice.
